The light emitted from the laser is attracted to the melanin, or dark pigment, in the hair follicle. This means that dark hair is treated most effectively. Treatments performed on red, blonde, and gray hair are not generally as effective, however, Riposo Medical Spa offers the most up-to-date laser treatments that can treat a variety of skin types and complexions, so anyone can see great results! Q. What are the risks of Laser Hair Removal? The risks of Laser Hair Removal are very low, as the lasers are designed to remove hair quickly and efficiently. It’s typically a quick procedure with no recovery time. Q. How many treatments will I need? Several factors determine how many laser hair removal treatments you’ll need—from your hair type and thickness, to the size of your treatment area. Your skin tone may influence your total number of treatments, but one complexion doesn’t require more or less treatment than another. Rather, your number of treatments will rely on how effectively your individual skin type reacts to laser technology. Q. I'm ready to get Laser Hair Removal, what are the next steps? First, we schedule a consultation with our Master Esthetician and ask that on the day of your consultation, you do not shave, wax or remove the hair in your desired treatment area. This helps your medical professional see the thickness and amount of hair that you would like removed. Please refrain from wearing heavy makeup or lotions on the treatment area during your consultation. Please come prepared with any relevant medical history and your current skincare regimen. For instance, topical acid treatments and some skin condition medications, such as isotretinoin, could make you photosensitive. In these cases, it’s important to alert your medical professional prior to treatment. The day before your treatment, we ask that you shave the area being treated, otherwise there is a $40 shaving fee. We recommend 6-8 treatments, done once a month. Pricing varies, depending on the size of treatment and ranges from $75-$400 per treatment.
